8 BENEFITS OF BECOMING AN RSOM STUDENT

1 – Proven Track Record of Excellence for 15 years.

Visit our testimonials page to see what our students and parents are saying. Every year, aspiring music teachers start their own studio, and a year or two later it’s closed. RRA has a proven track record of offering quality music lessons in guitar, piano, drums, voice, bass, violin, and rock band school in Aston PA year-round. Our full-time mission is teaching music trusted by over a thousand families since 2009.

2 – Adults, teens, kids – we have experience with all ages and learning styles.

We have 70 music teachers, all with either college training or professional performance experience. Our music teachers are dedicated to learning about your personal musical goals and helping you to achieve them. With at least three music teachers for every instrument, we are confident that we have the right teacher to meet your music lesson needs. In addition to their teaching credentials, our teachers have warm personalities, are extremely friendly and dedicated to teaching you the style of music that you want to learn in your music lesson.

3 - RRA is the only School in the area owned and operated by a PA K-12 certified school district music teacher (Garnet Valley) with a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Music (Ed, Performance, Theory)

The direction of any tribe on a mission depends on caring and knowledgeable leadership. Nate Richards brings passion for student success, deep love for music, a drive to help our teachers succeed, and a robust education to strengthen this cause.

4 – Rock Guitar Mastery Program developed and available ONLY for RRA guitar students. (See RGMP Page Here)

Learning to play an instrument has many personal joys that come with the experience. In addition, sharing that joy can be very rewarding! We offer opportunities to all students to play music with other students at RRA, as well as perform in our formal recitals on the Swarthmore College campus (piano, classical guitar, violin, voice) as well as our gigging rock bands at various venues and festivals.

5 – Room for Growth – Lessons, Recitals, Group Classes, Official Gigging Bands (Adults, Teens, Kids).

We only hire teachers with college training and professional performance experience. Our music teachers are dedicated to learning about your personal musical goals and helping you achieve them.

Friendly and motivating customer service is our daily bread and butter. We work as a team to find the right fit for you – instrument, level, genre/style, teaching approach, personality, and schedule needs.

6 – Multiple instrument/voice lesson needs in one location: Bass, Drums, Guitar (Electric, Classical, Acoustic), Production/DJ, Piano, Ukulele, Violin/viola/cello, Voice.

We serve and conveniently schedule families with varying interests: Siblings, parents, and students who explore multiple instruments as their musical journey takes them in new and exciting directions – we are ready to meet those needs with our pro teaching staff.

7 – Performance Opportunities such as classical/traditional recitals or rock band gigs.

Performance motivates excellence and is an opportunity for students to share their hard work and passion with an audience. Also, many of these students and rock band families build friendships that last a lifetime!

We believe in the power of a great musical performance, the hard work and dedication each student puts in to make it happen, and the sense of accomplishment and pride a student feels knowing that their practice came together in successful a live show. There’s nothing like it! Such positive energy and excitement!

TAKE A TOUR

Meet the Director

The ability to play an instrument or sing beautifully offers a lifetime of benefits. Music lessons also foster a student’s personal, social, and academic development. The Columbia Arts Academy has made substantial investments in our three facilities and elite faculty to provide an uplifting environment designed to foster creativity, confidence and joy.

If you’ve been told you are tone deaf or uncoordinated, I’m here to inform you that everyone can improve their musical skills. As a musician, songwriter and music professor, I've witnessed thousands of students transform their lives in ways they never imagined possible. We make it our mission to help Columbia students explore and develop their talents, wherever their curiosity and interests lead them.

ANNUAL STUDENT SHOWCASE

Our Students love performing on Columbia's Biggest Stages.

Every parent wants to know how their child is progressing. That’s why, twice a year, we present our Red Carpet recitals in professional recital halls equipped with a Steinway grand piano (at no added fee). And at our Annual Student Showcase, your child can perform at the Rosewood Crawfish or Jam Room Music Festivals. Bring your family and friends to share in the fun.

Since 2005, our program and students have been featured in the Free Times, WIS TV, WLTX TV, WOLO TV, and in a SC Educational Television documentary.

Bar Chords Guitar Lesson

Nate Richards on July 31, 2023

"Absolutely the best thing that ever happened to my son. Bought him his first guitar and brought him to Richards Rock Academy when he turned 11. He's 15 now and has developed a passion for music. He participates in Rock Academy and has played with his band at The Troc, Word Cafe, The Bitter End, JC Dobbs (RIP), and many other places. The teachers at RRA (Nate, Eric, Zach, etc.) are so dedicated to their students. Matt has had the opportunity to learn guitar, music theory, different guitar techniques from seasoned professionals.

Cindy Otis --- Irmo, SC

My three children wanted to play different instruments and it was very easy for us to choose a time and date to fit our busy schedule. The teachers have always been very positive and encouraging to all of my children which is very important to me.
